Reception to follow in HUMN 350.

One of the themes that structures Livy 5 is that of the reliability and correct reading of signs (with its concomitant implications of who holds, or usurps, authority). This paper, which offers a reading of (primarily) 5.13–22, investigates that theme from the point of view of narrative, character, and historiography.

This lecture is sponsored by GCAH and the Departments of Classics and History. It is free and open to the public. Everyone is welcome.
