Learn Classical Greek at CU this summer!

The Department of Classics and ALTEC at the University of Colorado at Boulder will offer an intensive course in Beginning Classical Greek this summer on the CU-Boulder campus. Learning Classical Greek is an excellent way to gain an advantage in fields of medicine and science, to access the most influential pieces of literature in history, to more fully grasp the thoughts and art of a classical civilization, and to learn English better, among other benefits. The course will cover the entirety of 1st year Greek grammar via Groton's From Alpha to Omega (~$23) (the equivalent of CLAS 1013 and 1023), and will tentatively run from June 4 to July 27 (8 weeks, meeting 3 days a week, approximately 7-7.5 hours per week). After taking this course, students should be equipped to begin 3rd semester Greek. The instructor is Mitch Pentzer, Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Classics at CU-Boulder. No prior knowledge of Greek necessary. No affiliation with CU necessary. This is a non-credit course, though the instructor will grade assignments and take-home exams for the purpose of helping assess progress and understanding as well as to vouch for students' performance. Tuition and fees for the course will be $890.  The deadline for registering for the course with payment will be May 16, 2012. Course fee will be non-refundable after the second day of class (except under extraordinary medical circumstances).
Please e-mail Mitch Pentzer at pentzer@colorado.edu as soon as possible if interested.
